Endcaps make all things possible. You can steal your tips for another project and replace them with endcaps (or stoppers) to make sure your stitches stays put 'till you return to that project; you can use them to turn your tips into separate needles, so you can work straight instead of circular - but still use TONS of stitches without having to maneuver too-long straight needles. It's always great to have a couple around - just in case.
