With it’s silky yarn and flattering fit, this sweater is a must have piece. Clusters of cocoon stitch create richly textured panes of fabric for the Silk Cocoon Cardigan. Forced to curve with the alternating motifs, twisted rib lines form deep pockets and open lozenges reminiscent of a just-opened bellflower. A silky, slinky alpaca blend gives just the right drape for a fitted wrap sweater.

Alpaca Silk: Silk Cocoon Cardigan

YARN: Blue Sky Alpacas Alpaca Silk (50% alpaca, 50% silk; 146 yd [134 m]/50 g): 8 (8, 10, 11, 12, 13) skeins.

NEEDLES: Size 4 (3.5 mm). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

OTHER TOOLS: Markers (m); stitch holders; tapestry needle; size F/5 (3.75 mm) crochet hook.

SKILL LEVEL: Advanced Beginner

GAUGE: 25½ sts and 34 rows = 4" in St st; 29 sts and 36 rows = 4" in cocoon st

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: 30 (33, 36½, 40½, 44, 48)" bust circumference. Sweater shown measures 33", modeled with about 1" positive ease.
